Very nice work

by: werner

Hi!

First of all, thank you very much for all your time and efforts, and the passion and excitement with which you share your previews, project concepts and ideas over there at Saltanera.

1) Kambium looks very promising indeed, and seems to be a very good complimentary system to Purefect. From my side, this is pure speculation (always hard to say for sure if you only have screenshots to work with), but it seems like Kambium might provide some interesting solutions for the online maintenance and development of purefect application systems?

2) As far as the screenshots go, thank you for making them available! I also appreciate the bigger screenshots of your new technology previews. I can now make out more details, leading to more conclusions about the functionality that can be expected in the initial release.

3) I am not aware of any CVS/SVN repositories for the Klorofil project's source (including its subprojects like Purefect and recently, Kambium). The reason I'm asking, is that I always like to start plying/working with the sources of such frameworks, even if they are extremely unstable, or in a pre-alpha stage. By doing so, you save a lot of time learning about the real world application and possibilities of frameworks when it comes to considering solutions for new projects. It is also then possible to give constant feedback about functionality and bugs, even long before an actual "stable" version is realeased. There are surely a lot of advantages to this proven approach, so I wondered if you have some source tree stacked away somewhere that the public (like me) can use to get their hands on your work-in-progress code ;-) Please note that I do not expect or demand source repositories if you do not prefer to work that way, you obviously have your own procedures and protocols at Saltanera.

If this is not the case (no source access), do you have a rough indication about when you plan to make the first official release of Kambium and Purefect? The information would help people like me with regard to planning future projects, and it would be nice to know when I could start to see it in action on my test servers :-)

4) There seems to be a problem (maybe with the CAPTCHA Drupal module?) with the forums. I can post new topics, but I cannot post any replies to existing topics. As soon as I try to submit a reply to any topic, I get an error about CAPTCHA verification that failed - but no CAPTCHA code was displayed on my reply form to validate. Please look into this, I suspect this problem might keep other people from replying to posts on the forum. I use Firefox 1.5.0.4 and Konqueror 3.5.2.

Lastly, thank you once again for sharing previews of these exciting technologies with us - I am waiting (im)patiently for a first release :-)

Kind Regards,
Werner

Kambium Source Code
by: werner

My question about Kambium's source code availability has been answered in a comment on the Kambium introduction post:

Eventhough Kambium source code will not be available for public, we believe the software (Kambium) still help developers and companies to build applications on top of Purefect Desktop.

Community supports are what motivate us to maintain the project

Hi Werner, nice to see you again. :-)

Thank you. We really appreciate your ongoing support for Klorofil project. Community supports are what motivate us to maintain the project.

That's right. Kambium's drag-and-drop feature will help developers to build Purefect-based applications easily.

We will discuss about it. We do realize code repository is very important for an open source project.

We will do our best to develop Purefect and Kambium and release it as soon as possible. A demo Purefect server will be available on late August.

It looks like the problem has been solved. But, do you still get any problem?

Werner, just let us know if you need any other things.

Regards,

R. Iqbal

Plan to involve community

hello,

it's me again ;)

is the developers or Saltanera have any plan to involve the community to work on the project directly, or is there any subproject that the community can involve as a volunteer to work with?? :D

that's all

thanks

Community Involvement
by: denny

Hi widy...

First of all, i like to thank you for your comment and support :D :D

For community involvement, we do have plan to ask community to join us on klorofil/purefect development. There will be 2 way to contribute, 1st join us to develop and improve klorofil/purefect core code. 2nd build application that run on purefect environment.

But i really sorry to tell you that we can't provide source code and installer for purefect right now, there a few problem that saltanera have to solve. But it wont be long, in my estimation, it wont be longer than 1-1,5 month.

But we have plan to set up a purefect server so you can try the desktop envirotment and kambium IDE, you'll be able to start develop application using kambium IDE. Please wait for next 2 or 3 week.

That is nice to hear - The opposite it also true: Wonderful and interesting projects like these will be nice to be involved in as a member of the community :-)

Wonderful features!

I'm glad you understand and share my (and many other open source coders') views.

Thanks for taking a look at it, I logged out and logged back in to refresh my session data, and it seems to be working fine now. Thanks again.

Wonderful. I already have some applications in mind, like an iCal parser/generator for shared calendars and tasks, to name one. I can't wait to take a look at the API. Thanks for planning to share your work with the community.

So soon? :-) It seems you are all working very hard, around the clock! Good luck with your efforts.

Thanks Werner. Actually, Purefect development has been started since early 2006.

It looks like Klorofil has to publish 'The history of Purefect' in the future :-)

This is great

Hi all,

I just tried this and knew it from denny. This is amazing, just like mac desktop on web.

There is something that makes me more interested is an IDE, i cannot believe you want to create new language inside? what is the name? Klorofil++ ???? ^_^

very cool.

Unfortunately, i found the performance still heavy until my firefox got crashed :p

But I am indeed to waiting the next release of Purefect Klorofil.

Good luck with your efforts.

Suharman
