Klorofil Has a New Website Maintainer

Are you wondering what have Klorofil Team doing in the last 2 months? If you visit our website regularly, maybe you'll think this project has been stopped because we haven't published any news since December 2006. Actually, Klorofil Team has done absolutely many things, we have rewrote some parts of Purefect source code, we also have tested many lines of code. We have done all we can do in order to make the code ready to be released. Unfortunately, We tend to focus more on the development part of Klorofil softwares that have took many of our time. That's why we rarely spread the progress to the community. And we realised that is not good for the success of the project.

Saltanera, Klorofil sponsor, knows about the problem and decided to assign one person to help us maintain the website. Along with us, he will answer your questions, publish news updates, and many other things. His nickname is Zul. Welcome to the community Zul. We hope Zul can help us to make this project much better. Of course, you'll also be able to join us when we release the code. We are really sorry for the delay. It is not as easy as we thought. We have to ensure the code will be 100% free from Saltanera's proprietary code. It is a really BIG challenge for us.

New Purefect Public Server Launched

Purefect's Error Console December 21st, 2006

Purefect Desktop Public Server is now available for everyone. We do hope this server will solve some known problems (e.g. server down, low performance, etc) found in Purefect Online Demo.

This newest update includes several important changes that make Purefect work much better. The most important one is its performance improvement. Anyone who has tried Purefect before can surely feel the difference.

This version comes with many performance improvements, an error console, and some bug fixes. For the next few weeks, we will focus on integrating Saltanera Kambium IDE (Klorofil's web-based AJAX IDE) into the server.

Here is the list of changes available:

Performance improvements. We have changed some of Purefect database structure and class loading.
Demo User. As requested by many users, now you can try Purefect without having to register first. In order to use the demo user, please visit http://www.purefect.org and click 'Demo' button.
New file system
Error Console built to help developers (and users) analyze problems
Some minor improvements (e.g. maximizing window)
Some bug fixes

Purefect Desktop Online Demo Available Now

Purefect Desktop Login September 4th, 2006

Klorofil delighted to present ~~Purefect Desktop Online Demo~~ Purefect Public Server. We hope the demo will help users learn more about Purefect Desktop before we release Purefect's source code to the Open Source community.

Purefect was developed in order to help developers (and ISVs) in developing RIA-based applications that can be deployed on intranet portal.

Eventough in its early stage, Purefect has many interesting features.

Here is the list of features you should try:

Kambium IDE (Web-Based "drag and drop" IDE): The IDE is one of Purefect's most interesting applications. You can use the IDE to build Purefect applications easily. Click the 'Help Icon' in the IDE to read Purefect API documentation.
FlazTalk Instant Messaging: You can use the application to chat with other Purefect users. Try to chat with your friends.
Stomata File Explorer.
Display Settings: You can change your desktop wallpaper easily.
And many more.

Current version only support Mozilla Firefox. We will support more browsers in the future.

We do realize Purefect still lack many features. This demo is only for testing purpose. Your comments are very important for the future of Purefect.

Purefect and Kambium Screencast August 24th, 2006

In this short screencast, we'll cover the overview you'll need to get started using Purefect Desktop and Kambium which the online demo will be available next week.

This screencast also shows some of Saltanera Kambium (IDE) features. As you watch the screencast, you will be impressed at how rich it is. Many people would assume that this wasn’t run on web browser.

First of all, we have some information:

Purefect and Kambium screencasts will be published on Thursday.
Purefect and Kambium online demos will be available next week.

You can get the notification through Klorofil Newsletter or Klorofil Feed.

Today, we would like to give you more Saltanera Kambium screenshots before the online demo becomes available. For everyone who don't know Saltanera Kambium, you can read our first post here.

As we told you before, Kambium is a web-based IDE for developing AJAX applications (based on Purefect). In order to run Kambium, all you need is a "standard-compliant" web browser.

Like other IDEs, Kambium also has Component Palette, Project Explorer, Property Editor, and Event Editor.

Purefect Desktop and The Future of Web Applications

August 15th, 2006 Multiple Windows - Purefect Desktop

What is Purefect Desktop anyway? Purefect is a desktop environment that run 100% on your web browser without the need to install any plug-ins. Purefect appearance is very similar to an Operating System.

To over simplify, Purefect is a "web-based Operating System" that can be used to run various applications. But Purefect is not an Operating System.

In order to use Purefect, you have to login to your web-based desktop first. Then, you can choose and run applications the same way you run applications on your desktop. You can change Purefect background (wallpaper), browse files (using file explorer), send e-mails (using e-mail client), read RSS (using RSS reader), and the list goes on.

You can also install other Purefect-based applications downloaded from the internet. Or, if you want, you can build your own Purefect applications (calculator, spreadsheet, text editor, minesweeper, etc) using Saltanera Kambium (IDE for Purefect applications).

Purefect will revolutionize the way we use and develop web applications. Using Purefect, web applications no longer consists of pages.

Purefect Display Settings August 6th, 2006

The Klorofil Collaboration Project is pleased to announce the formation of a new subproject called PUREFECT DESKTOP. Purefect is a desktop environment that runs 100% on the web browser. Purefect adopts RIA (Rich Internet Application) concept.

Purefect was developed in order to combine the strength of desktop application and web application. Purefect will help developers to build web application easily.
